Barcelona and PSG failed to make any progress with regards to the sale of Neymar, but it is widely anticipated that a domino effect will be created once the Brazilian does leave the French capital. ESPN reports that PSG will look to sign Paulo Dybala and Mauro Icardi once the sale of Neymar goes through.
Paulo Dybala is clearly surplus to requirements and Juventus tried to sell him on a number of occasions this summer. After being offered to the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham, Juve ended up reluctantly keeping the Argentine. However, he does not figure in the plans of Mauricio Sarri and the Italian team would be happy to receive a fee for the player.
Dybala was on the bench against Parma in the season opener and he never got off the bench. It may be a sign of things to come if Dybala ends up staying in Turin. The player’s agent has been holding negotiations with PSG to make the switch to Parc des Princes if Neymar leaves the club. Even though Dybala would cost only around €70 million, this transfer would represent a lot of value. The player has a contract with the club until 2022.
PSG are demanding €220 million for Neymar. After having spent a large chunk of money on Antoine Griezmann, Barca are struggling to raise funds for the purchase of the Brazilian. However, the exit of Phillipe Coutinho has freed up a sizeable chunk of the wage budget. The Spanish club are believed to have agreed personal terms with Neymar, who is ready to drop his wages to around €24 million net from his current packet of €36 million net.
The signing of Griezmann has led to a deficiency in terms of transfer budget. Furthermore, Barcelona are also struggling to comply with the Financial Fairplay Regulations. Hence, the Catalan outfit are reported to be interested in signing Neymar on a loan deal this summer and it would be converted into a permanent signing next summer. The total transfer value should come around €180 million. The loan fee would come around €30 million while the rest will come into force when the move is made permanent next summer.
However, PSG are not in favour of the deal since it leaves the club with little money to be able to afford replacements. Dybala would then be significant strain on the club’s resources if that is the case, as Juve may not be ready to accept an initial loan offer.
If Neymar makes a switch to the Camp Nou, it could start a domino effect where Dybala makes the move to PSG. This would then allow Juve to make a move for Icardi, who is deemed surplus at Inter Milan. Icardi has also been frozen out of first team action by Conte, who has brought in Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United.
Neymar has not featured for PSG so far this season and all parties are working towards completing a deal before September 2 when the window closes.
